Who we are

Kaizen is made by Sancar Media (Deniz Sancar), United Kingdom. This policy covers the Kaizen app on iOS and Android and the website kaizenlearn.app.

The short version

You can read the free lessons without an account, and then everything stays on your phone. To subscribe to Kaizen Pro you create an account with Apple or Google, so your progress and Pro follow you to any phone. We keep only what that needs, we never sell it, and Kaizen has no ads, no analytics and no tracking.

What we store

Your account: the ID Apple or Google gives us, your name and email address (with Sign in with Apple you can hide your email, and we then get a private relay address), and whether you want our emails. Your progress: onboarding answers, chosen topics, daily goal, reminder time, likes, saved lessons, reading history and streak. Your subscription: which plan you have, when it renews or ends, and the store's transaction ID, so Pro works on both iPhone and Android.

Where it's kept

On servers run by our hosting provider, Cloudflare, and a copy on your phone. Your sign-in session is kept in your phone's secure storage (the iOS Keychain or Android Keystore).

Subscriptions

Payments are handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see your card details. When you subscribe, the app sends the store's signed receipt to our server, which checks it with Apple or Google and links it to your account. Apple and Google then tell our server when a subscription renews, is cancelled or is refunded.

Emails

We only email you about new lessons and tips if you tick the box when you sign up or turn it on in Settings. Turn it off in Settings or reply to any email to stop.

Deleting your account

Go to Settings, then Delete account. This permanently removes your account, progress and subscription link from our servers straight away, and revokes Kaizen's access to your Apple ID if you signed in with Apple. It doesn't cancel a subscription: cancel that in your App Store or Google Play settings. You can also email us to delete your account.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email us and we'll reply within 30 days. We use your data to provide the service you signed up for, and for emails only with your consent. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.

Notifications

Daily reminders are scheduled on your phone. Nothing is sent from a server and you can turn reminders off in Settings at any time.

Sharing a lesson

If you tap Share, your phone's share sheet sends the lesson to the app you pick. We don't see what you share or who you share it with.

Children

Kaizen isn't aimed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Earlier versions

Kaizen 1.0 offered optional accounts through a different system. If you made one and want it deleted, email us and we'll delete it within 30 days.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top and, for big changes, tell you in the app.
